Abstract

This research paper deeply explores the philosophy of Ahimsa (non-violence) as highlighted in the Garuda Purana. The Garuda Purana elaborates on the consequences of taking lives, categorizing it as a grave sin that leads to severe punishments in hell. Additionally, the study draws from the works of Indian sages, Siddhars, and philosophers, emphasizing the significance of adhering to the principle of non-violence.Through a comprehensive literature review, this paper underlines the necessity of practicing Ahimsa. It integrates teachings from Thirumoolar, Sivavakkiyar, Thiruvalluvar, and Vallalar, who emphasize that showing compassion towards all living beings is a path to attaining divine grace. The Garuda Purana provides a detailed account of the punishments awaiting those who fail to follow the principle of non-violence.
